Can one night lead to forever? Kassidy Monroe has spent far too many nights alone. But could she actually go through with a one-night stand? No! At least, that’s her answer until her eyes settle on him—tall, dark, and ultra-mysterious behind a black and platinum mask that makes him even more appealing. It’s lust at first sight, but how far is she willing to go with a man she’s just met? Jaxon Prescott has always gone after what he wants. And he wants her—the sexy vixen in the feather mask. Something about her calls to him, and he’s all too willing to answer. An invitation to his hotel suite was supposed to be for a night she wouldn’t soon forget, but somehow the tables turn. He never imagines he’d be the one constantly reliving their time together. One need. One night. One unforeseen outcome.

BOOK BLURB:

BEJEWELED: WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE

Olivia’s dreams have finally begun to come true, as she marries the man who’s held her heart for twenty years. Her beauty salon is prospering, and she has begun rebuilding her team, after seeds of discord were sowed and bonds were broken. Everything is beginning to look up, or so she thinks. When a scandal is leaked to the media, Olivia’s dream of expanding is in jeopardy. She must step up and play hard ball in a game with which she’s unfamiliar.

Nikki had dreams of building a beautiful family with a loving husband. But after looking at the shattered pieces of her broken life, she is losing hope and desires more. She wants more than the shame of barrenness, and more than physical abuse from his drinking binges. One phone call gives her courage to escape the deadly clutches of her husband. Yet, when she finds strength in another’s armsshe finds herself spinning more lies. Nikki’s web of deceit is going to cost all those who are close and it could just cost her, her life.

When deception is the name of the game, who all will have to share the pain?

EXCERPT:
The pain was easing up somewhat as Nikki and Wesley entered the breezeway at his apartments. Unlocking the door, his eyes softened when he looked at her face once again.
She saw a mixture of anger and compassion nestled there.

“What?” she asked when he continued to stare at her longer than what she deemed comfortable.
“Nothing,” he said, shaking his head. Wesley led her into a galley kitchen and pulled a sandwich bag from one of the cabinets, filled it with ice, and then wrapped it in a paper towel before applying it to her face.

She was in awe at the tenderness with which this man handled her. Every time he touched or said a word to her, it was with such protection, like she had never known. This was a side of Wesley that she had not seen in the five years of knowing him.

“Come on,” he said, grabbing her by her free hand and leading her to the back of the apartment. She looked around at his bedroom; not at all what she would have expected for a single man. Decorated in oranges, greens, browns, and yellows, it had a Caribbean look and feel to it. The room was small, but neat and exhibited a nice décor. The full-sized bed sat directly opposite the black-framed, chestnut-colored dresser. To the right of his bed was a small nightstand in the same black framing and chestnut top as the bed and the dresser. To the left of his bed was a double-paned window, with orange, brown, and green curtains blocking out the midday sun. He walked over to the window and opened the curtains halfway and then opened the blinds to allow the sun to stream through.

“I’ll be right back.”

“Where are you going?” she asked with a look of apprehension in her eyes.

His eyebrows lifted slightly. “Just to the bathroom, Nikki. I’ll be back.”

Exhaling a deep breath, she realized that a new fear had come over her. In all the altercations she had endured with Carlos, he had never left her for dead. Why did he leave like that? What if the neighbors didn’t come? I could’ve died in that bathroom, she thought.

She tried to fight back the tears, but they betrayed her. Sucking in her sobs, she stood and walked to his dresser and began looking at his pictures, anything that would take her mind off her problems. There were a couple of him and his father at various stages of his life, a few of some children, and one of a lady she assumed to be his mother. She stood up and walked to the bed, staring at the amazing likeness he had to this woman.

“That’s my mom.”

She jumped at the sound of his voice; she hadn’t heard him return to the bedroom.

“Oh, I didn’t hear you come up. Are you always so quiet?” she asked as he came and stood beside her. She still had not looked at him, wishing she could make the tears disappear from her eyes and face.

“No. Are you always so scary?” he teased. He regretted the words almost the moment he said them. Her body tensed up, and she looked down. Her fear had come as a result of the relationship she was in. She was always tense and on edge, because she never knew what fuse Carlos was about to blow.
“Hey, it’s okay. I’m sorry. Here, look at me,” he said, turning her face up towards him. “Why are you crying?” he asked as he wiped her tears away with his fingers.

“I’m sorry. I just…I don’t know.” She couldn’t explain if she wanted to. No one would understand her confusion or pain. She could forgive Carlos if he just had not left her. Didn’t he love her? Didn’t he want to work things out? Maybe he didn’t love her, after all. If he did, he would not have left her there like that.

“Don’t be sorry. You haven’t done anything wrong. I have the feeling you have spent many years apologizing,” Wesley stated.

He lovingly caressed the bruise that had formed on the right side of her face.

“Too beautiful,” Wesley said, being drawn into the power of her presence in his bedroom.

“Huh?”

“You. You’re too beautiful for this. I don’t want you to be scared every time people come near you. Relax, okay? Just be…I promise I won’t ever do nothing to hurt you,” he said as he drew her nearer to him. Looking down into her big, dark brown eyes, he felt himself getting lost.

Nikki didn’t know what she was feeling or what was happening between the two of them. And she couldn’t contain herself as he pressed his full firm lips against her soft, lush ones. As their foreheads touched, he continued to gently apply pressure to her lips, asking for permission to enter in.

Book Spotlight: Where Theres’s a Will There’s A Way by Tre L. Bryant

Book Excerpt:

He had resurfaced acting far worse than he did in the beginning and was making my life hell once again. Our sex life was never the greatest, and it eventually became a gruesome task. He would often make references to my experience with the other guy and asked what I did with him that I didn’t do with him. This was a sick twisted game to him and he enjoyed making me uncomfortable. He got mad quite often, because I refused to answer his questions. I never once mentioned this little random chick he slept with and never even asked if he still kept in contact with her. Moving forward was supposed be the focus so he said but it was all a lie and there was never any sincerity in it.

It was very clear he would never let this go and within the first year of trying I didn’t even care anymore. I began to develop a tolerance to his bullshit and often would try not to fall into his trap that would cause me to breakdown to his level of stupidity. Even though this was even harder than before I tried to stay optimistic constantly telling myself that hopefully things would change and that our lives would change for the better someday soon. I tried to believe in him when he didn’t believe in himself but what he failed to realized is I didn’t believe in him or even us anymore. Our lives should have been inclining and not declining and we were supposed to come out of this and have a testimony, so I hoped.

Author Interview with Author C Lynette

Today I have the honor of interviewing a great Romance Author Ms. C Lynette.

LaToya:  When did you begin your writing career?
C. Lynette: My writing career officially began when I started college. I went to MSU and graduated with a BA in Journalism. I have 17 articles, 2 op-eds and one magazine feature piece published. I started writing books in 2014 after encouragement from a few author friends.

LaToya: What’s your inspiration for writing?
C. Lynette: My inspiration is my need to make a name for myself. Quite often I’ve felt that I didn’t fit in to any one particular group. Writing is a way for me to be in a “clique” with an assortment of people.

LaToya: What kind of legacy do you expect your writing to leave?
C. Lynette: I expect my legacy to be that girl who “started from the bottom now I’m here.” I want to be able to write different genres and people to not associate me with just one type of book. I want someone to be able to look back and say, she really shocked the world.

LaToya: What are you currently working on?
C. Lynette: Ebony Articles: Volume 2 (erotic romance), What You Got Me (street lit) and an untitled horror/thriller.

LaToya: Name one book that you would categorize as a life changing read.
C. Lynette: She’s Come Undone. A family friend gave it to me while I was going through a particularly hard time socially at the age of 15. And ever since then, I’ve hit the ground running.

LaToya: Tell us about your latest book.
C. Lynette: It’s sexy, it’s short but it’s not your typical erotic book. The language isn’t to make anyone uncomfortable, but sex is an everyday part of life. It is a journal, of sorts, about the sexual adventures or misadventures of real-life women.

LaToya: Name a book you wish you’d written.
C. Lynette: I wish I had written any or all of the Harry Potter books. Apparently JK Rowling is sitting on a pretty nice fortune.

LaToya: Give readers 3 reasons to buy your book.
C. Lynette: It’s different from your normal erotic romance novels. The stories are very relatable and since I was giving most of the stories directly from the sources (yes I did mini interviews for this) I believe it gives the reader more. Because it’s only 99 cents

LaToya: Is your book based on real life events?
C. Lynette: Yes it is. I can only confirm that everything in this book has happened based on what was relayed to me and/or what I’ve personally observed.

LaToya: Will you consider being a mentor to a young up and coming author?
C. Lynette: I’d love to! Of course, I’m still a young up and coming author myself.

LaToya: Are you currently working on anything you want to share with us?
C. Lynette: This is my current WIP from my untitled horror/thriller piece (unedited and raw)
It was a clear, warm and sunny day outside. People were walking the streets of Detroit, enjoying friends and conversations that flowed with the breeze.
In the near distance the blaring of sirens were heard as fire engines and ambulances rushed from where they were docked to the Renaissance building downtown. Passersby began to gather and mumble about what was going on. What was all the distraction about? There shouldn’t have been any fuss.
Suddenly, everyone looked up and as a man tossed himself out of a 42nd floor window. As his body fell with gravity, his arms didn’t flail, he hardly made a sound. He almost appeared lifeless. But it was clear he was not. A police officer was motioning everyone to stay behind him.
He continued to fall gracefully, as if he hadn’t a care in the world. Then he suddenly turned to face the street. The people turned their backs, not wanting to see the impact of his body hitting the street, or the amount of brain matter and blood splattered everywhere.

LaToya: How can readers connect with you: (Please include social media, website link, and link to your amazon author page, etc.)

C. Lynette: I love hearing from readers! Connect with me via any of the channels below.

Facebooks:     http://facebook.com/burkscry
Websites:        http://burkscry.wix.com/clynette

LaToya: What advice would you give to an inspiring authors?

C. Lynette: Deadlines and procrastination do not mix. If you are a self-publishing author, please follow the deadlines you set for yourself or you’ll discover you’re behind the curve and struggling to catch up!
