Author Interview with D. Camille

LaToya: If you could choose a famous African American who has impacted your life who would it be and why?
Camille: Malcolm X. One of the most brilliant, strong and powerful men who has ever lived.

LaToya: Where are you from? Where do you live now?
Camille: Originally from Detroit (The “D”). Currently reside in Portland, Oregon.

LaToya: Did you always know you wanted to be a writer?
Camille: No, I actually read more than I wrote.

LaToya: When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?
Camille: I started writing in January of this year and finished my first book in February.

LaToya: How did you choose the genre you write in?
Camille: I love mystery and romance so I combined them.

LaToya: Where do you get your ideas?
Camille: Just in my head mostly. I have a very active imagination.

LaToya: Name one book that you would categorize as a life changing read.
Camille: Stolen Legacy by George G. M. James

LaToya: Who is your favorite author?
Camille: Beverly Jenkins

LaToya: Tell us about your latest book.
Camille: Art of Deception is the last book (Book 4) in The Black Diamond Series. Identities are exposed, buried secrets come to life and relationships are tested. Life is not as it seems and deceptions abound until truth is revealed. The books should be read in sequence.

LaToya: How can readers connect with you?
Camille: FB, Twitter, Instagram, or my website.

LaToya: What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Camille: When you give people the power to lift you up, you also give them the power to tear you down. Accept and acknowledge all praise with humility, weigh all criticisms with discern, and never compromise yourself for either.
